Men and Medical Beauty

The growing consciousness in men about their appearance has been the trend in the recent years. A metro sexual man is one who takes good care of his appearance by paying attention to the fine nuances of fashion, new trends apart from taking lot of interest and care for his skin. Young male generation are taking inspiration from Bollywood celebs like Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Choclate boy Shahid Kapur or Ranbir
Kapoor for looking best in their day to day appearances.

According to recent report of Indian Cosmetic Industry, cosmetic product in men’s category has gone up surprisingly by 20% which is evident that taking care of beauty is not only limits up to women now. By participating in the trend many cosmetic companies have finely crafted and prepared design equipment and cosmetics for men. Increase in Ratio 60:40 of women and men respectively shows that applying cosmetics or going to parlors for routine touch ups is not limits to women now. Men are also increasing significantly in this category.

From last few years men are taking interest towards their skin and fitness routines. Now-a-days not only women but men are also very sensitive towards their skin care routine. A man’s skin
is very different from a woman’s skin as it is thicker and since it contains more connective tissues (collagen and elastin); it is more firm and resilient. Before sometime where women were worried about certain skin problems today men are equally worried for those problems.

Men are very conscious about acne, scars, under eye dark circles, complexion/colour of faces, fine lines on face, pigmentation, wrinkles, tanning etc. Apart from that men are also getting cautious about choosing their next hair style. Factors such as the volume of hair, hair type and the face structure play a crucial role in making the right style statement and also the love handles around tummy etc to which they consult specialists and also undergo for expensive treatments which is actually a good sign. Consulting a Aesthetician for such problems is very important.

According to a market research done by RNCOS, it says that before sometime men usually prefers going to gym for their fitness they were more prone towards their routine but now they are getting very conscious towards their skin and hair too. They even go for cosmetic surgeries like botox and fillers treatment, mesotherapy for hair and weight loss too.

With this emerging trend mushrooming of Men’s parlor are on high where services like facial, massage, nail filings, manicure, pedicure, hair styling and coloring etc are available for men.

By participating in the trend many cosmetic companies have finely crafted and prepared cosmetics for men. Earlier when only women fairness creams were available in the marker but now we can actually see lots of men fairness creams are readily available. Men use such creams while going out in sun that have a minimum of SPF 15 to prevent tanning.  Many males come to my clinic and actually spend more money on their beauty and appearance than women. However, there is nothing strange about it is the desire to appear flawless emanates from the wish to portray a more confident self.
